“WHY”

Simon Sinek is the author of a book that suggests that businesses “Start with Why“

With almost the last words of his book, he writes (I edit only slightly, for clarity of context)  :

“What if we showed up to work every day simply to be better than ourselves ? What if the goal was to do better work this week than we did the week before ? For no other reason than because we want to leave the organization better than we found it ?

All organizations start with WHY, but only the great ones keep their WHY clear year after year. Those who forget WHY they were founded show up to the race every day to outdo someone else instead of to outdo themselves.”

After forming McCallum Solutions with the simple goal of creating value for clients, reading “Start with Why” has centered my thinking around simply continually striving to be better. By constantly investing in my own skills, knowledge and abilities, I can increase the value I can help create.

This drive and passion for value creation and continually being better has led to joining an internationally renowned Business Coaching organization. Shirlaws, formed in 1999 in Australia and now operating around the world, is a learning based community of experienced and expert individuals dedicated to using Business Coaching methods, tools and frameworks to bring a unique approach to helping successful businesses and organizations drive value.

My own background covers a broad pallet of experience (Chartered Accountancy, Finance, Marketing, IT, Digital Media, Resort Development, Destination Marketing, General and Operational Management and more). My branding guru “Dreadyworld” refers to me as “the box and everything outside it” , as I take that experience and work to help clients innovate, to inspire, and, as with another company that is crystal clear on their “WHY” (Apple), to “think different” about their unique needs.

I will continue to offer specialist advisory services in other areas on a limited basis, but Shirlaws Cayman is now my core business.

Based in the Cayman Islands, I operate internationally. Potential clients are encouraged to make contact in the first instance by email, following which an introductory meeting can be set up, as I do travel within the Caribbean, USA, UK and Europe frequently.
