Why ? I’ve just read Seth’s new book, which you can download for free at http://www.squidoo.com/Whatmattersnowfreeebook
Repeated themes in there are things like :
- give away your expertise for free
- be generous with your time
- be passionate and do what you are passionate about
- the market will find a way to monetise your skills
- say “enough” (or) get enough sleep.. ie don’t think more is better, take time to think
…and there are many more.. from a bunch of amazing thinkers and do’ers, several of whom I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and get to know, more of whom I’ve read extensively.
As for me.. I’m inspired, I’m energized, and I’m passionate about what I am doing for 2010 and beyond.
“What do you do?” people ask me… I observe, I think, I enquire, I facilitate, I commit, I focus, I create, I share…..
I’m already jealous of my 2010 and wish I got to know that “me” earlier… (see page 16 of the book).
For those who will be part of the journey with me.. in whatever form…. we’re going to have a great 2010 !

I read the e-book yesterday and was blown away. So much wisdom in so few words. When I talk to clients and encourage them to “make every word count” in their communications, I’m now going to ask them to read this; it’s the perfect example.
One of the best bits for me – and again one I will share with clients – is Gina Trapani’s comment “Don’t worry too much about getting things done. Make things happen!”
All to often we worry about how much there is to be done, I’m hugely guilty of list-mania, when in reality it all comes down to the Nike approach – Just Do It.
Excellent thoughts, Michelle.
Reminds me of the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan in Cayman in September 2004, where we had what looked like an impossible and endless task to recover our island.
The thought that kept going through my head was “ready, fire, aim”…..military speak for… “just do it” !
Looking forward to receiving your free expertise Tom! When can you start?! We have coffee, but you’ll need to bring your own milk.
Steve… I take my coffee black, so no problem there. Along the “freemium” model, I give away a lot free, but a) tailoring stuff to client’s unique needs… that’s where I charge for my time, and b) the devil is in the details.. no point in giving advice that can’t or won’t be executed.. and I am all about “deliverability”. You have a thriving company that is innovative and a market leader, I’d be happy to work with you !
